El Tepeyac

This is the only burrito in Los Angeles you'll ever need to eat. The tortillas, guacamole, beans and meat are cooked perfectly. Manuel's spirit is felt in this beautiful, small café and it's the only place I'll recommend for Mexican food in the city. When in the Los Angeles area, this IS a must-stop.

Food portion is huge and delicious with flavor. Service is excellent fast and helps you out if it's your first time. Highly recommend to you to try this place!

Every time I go there is awesome just to be there. Because my dad and family grew up around the corner. Back in the days the Hollenbeck was 75 cents.The food is great it had the same quality.

Everything I've ordered is amazing! The food always taste super fresh every time without fail. Just beware when they say something is spicy, because it definitely is!

Like most restaurants that have been around for a LONG time... things change and not always for the better. It's veen at least 16 years since I've been back. Because I am on a keto diet, I got the menudo soup. My Mexican buddies said it was good, but I've had better. I really wasn't a soup, kind of thick for my liking and didn't look apealing. The guacamole and chips are always good! One of my buddies got the Original Hollenback, the first thing he said was the burrito has gotten smaller. The other 2 both got taquitos, can never go wrong with that order. I give El Tepeyac 2.5 stars.

This place is nice and roomy, the menu was delicious and the prices were very affordable. rapidly, efficient service and very amiable staff. I highly recommend this place.

Really good food to eat,Mexican food . Tepeyac is known for its Hollenbeck burrito and the Manual special also,burrito is really huge. Menu says if you can eat the whole Manual burrito, you win a $100 or a free Manual burrito. Parking lot also. Handicap parking, outside patio too to eat with family and friends

Simply it's good. Serving is great. Everyone greets every one . Feels like home.

Huge portions and the taquitos plate was delicious! Also tried the Chile relleno and it was different than what I'm used to but so flavorful and just huge! Our waitress was awesome and had us laughing throughout our dinner. Quite a bit of a wait standing outside but once inside the orders go in quick and come out pretty quick. Overall great experience.

Not sure if you can tell but that is a 20 oz soda. This Manuel burrito was bigger than my face. It took 4 of us to finish this tasty monstrosity. Also the guy seated next to me has been going here since 1968. Talk about customer loyalty.

Terrible customer service!! The food is good but it is ruined because of the people working there! Specially the people answering the phone, takes a long time to answer, and when she finally does, it leaves you waiting for more and never responds again. What a waste of time! What kind of service is this? And this has happened on such at least 4 times in the last 2 weeks!

So I have to give this place a top rating not just because of the food but the history in the community. My father has been going her for 40 years and even though manny is no longer there offering shots the food still has a great authentic spirit. The portions are generous obviously because it definitely isn't cheap but there are options for couples and groups. There is indoor and outdoor seating with a bar and good Mexican food to keep you coming back.

This is the BEST Mexican Restaurante in all of SoCalif!!!Their speciality is BURRITOS!They have one which is at least 18” long!!! I’ve seen people eat a one all by themself but we were all a lot younger!!!

Food still good but overpriced. Been going there since I was a kid but due to regular increase in prices I rarely go. After Manuel passed away it's not the same. No more tequila shots. There was always a line outside but those days are gone.

Been going here for over 30 yrs.food is always good and satisfying, only drawback, one server is not the greatest. Other than that, great place.

My husband and I always make it a point to visit El Tepeyac's whenever we are going through LA area. We've been going here for over 45 years. The food is always delicious and you feel like you're at home even if it's your first time. Try the Hollenbeck.

haven't been there in years, took my Son we ate burritos and they are still the best burritos, I Remember it as Manuel's

If you're hungry for some real Mexican food, like real hungry, big hungry this is your place. The portions are huge, food excellent and the food comes fast.the food is fresh and authentic. We had pork nachos, enough for at least 2 people and 2 taquitos. I could only eat one taquito. There was real guacamole on both dishes. The one we went to is in East LA and this is one of our go to date night places. Nothing fancy but who needs fancy when you have taquitos.

Extremely disappointed.. on our first visit.. they really need to revamp their cooking methods & ingredients.. don't know what happened.. it's not the same.. they really really really have to get the basics right their "rice & beans".. the rice has no flavor, is hard and rubbery.. the beans are awful, straight out of a can, and have a weird after taste.. the red chili sauce used on the enchiladas is extremely bitter.. on a positive note the service is great.. the servers are very attentive and have positive attitudes.. and my fountain drink was ok..

Excellent Hollenbeck Burrito. Been eating here for 25+ years and the food is so consistently Good! Best comfort food in LA hands down. Highly Recommended Gem!!!

Come on. This place represents something great about Boyle Heights, and has a rich history. I've eaten here a few times and unfortunately the food falls far short of its reputation. The only thing worse than a bad burrito is giant bad burrito. It should probably stay open as it's a cultural institution, but can the kitchen please figure out some better food?

The portion sizes are enormous. My friends and I got the 5 lbs Manuel's special burrito, and we could not finish it. It really means it when the menu says this feeds 2-4 people (more towards the latter). It comes out bigger than our forearms, and it tastes delicious (like what you would expect in a Mexican restaurant). It is a simple and not overpowering burrito. They also provide chips to munch on, but I would recommend saving those chips for after the meal if you have space.

The burritos are HUGE! Food taste amazing! I recently discovered that I love their Hollenbeck burrito with Asada instead of pork. The Asada had a delicious taste of lemon in it, just the way I like my asada. Love it!

Came here with my brother and sister at the weekend. Had a great time, everyone enjoyed it. The food was tasty and juicy. The staff took care of us and all our wishes were fulfilled. If you want to just have a good time for a delicious meal, go here.

"They won't honor gift cards" Wanted to place an order for our office but when I called to place an order I mention I had 2 gift cards, before I could finished he said I wont honor your cards I told him your address and the address of the industry location are on the gift card. He said there was a family dispute and this location wont honor them and to go to the other location to redeem them! He was rude and said they had the original burrito! I'm not going to order from them for our events. They wont honor gift cards!!!

This restaurant is the place to go for a wide selection of Mexican food. The food is good and there is a great selection.

Now this is real Mexican food, its the real deal.Its been in our family for years. This place is always busy and at times have a long line but worth the wait.

It has been years since we were last there. Hasn't changed much. Great food, great service. Huge portions. Ordered a machaca burrito and an order of taquitos with guacamole. Way too much for us to eat. About 1 1\2 cups of guacamole! And the burrito about the size of my foot! (Sorry about the appetizing comparison)

I cannot recall my best experience at Manuel’s - they’re all outstanding! When a white guy (me) is willing to make the trip to E. LA (from Moreno Valley) for the best Mexican food, that says something! Been going there since 1977. A lot of times before a Dodger game; although I used to live in San Gabriel Valley. I STILL crave a Hollenbeck plate & can’t resist a “Special” - so I go! Manuel is STILL with us - the first taste will tell you so! R.I.P.

This is the first I've been here so I didn't know what to expect. I can say the everyone was very nice when we came in and it felt homey. Their orders are big so you are for sure going to bring some home. We sat at the counter and the service was quick, and it's clean . I had the hollenbeck burrito and it was tasty and huge.

Not at all what a green Chile should taste or look like. It was red and it had a very distinct flavor. Not in a good way. My husband had a chicken wet burrito and he didn't like his either. Will not be back. This is the third time that I have given this restaurant a chance. All three times it has been disappointing ☹️

I loved their seafood...so delicious Their micheladas are far better than other places I've had. I highly recommend the regular michelada.

I have enjoyed the unique flavors of El Tepeyac Café for over fifty-five years. A few months ago they opened a new location in La Mirada and it’s really beginning to mirror the original location in East Los Angeles. That said, both locations get five stars because La Mirada gets a star just for being there. The drive to East Los Angeles from Orange County seemed a little too long at times. Due to the current situation we had their delights delivered to our door and that’s a first! When you get to be as old as me you celebrate things like that.

Always LOVE everything about this place!! The food by far is the best and service is great! Grew up in LA and now live in Inland empire. Traveled over an hour to taste the machaca again! Nothing beats it... No other location or restaurant can make it better! Thanks!!!

Worst service I've EVER had in any restaurant before. The family and I went for lunch and the place was busy with business people. Our waitress seemed horrified to serve us. We are Hispanic so I'm assuming she must have thought we weren't going to tip, therefore giving us absolute side eyes, and completing neglecting our table. Not only that, but she also charged us for chips and salsa which I later then found out are given for free. If I could give it ZERO stars, I would.

Their burritos are huge if you get the large. The place is a little bit smaller than the average sit down restaurants, but the service is great. You might have a wait longer for your meal if you get meats like, carne asada..
